A Mile a Minute

The anger in my voice scared me for a minute
As I watched the color run from his eyes
We were moving at more than a mile a minute
Like his lips in fervent prayer

The morning sun battled the dirty windows
The hawk wind broke wide across the highway
We were moving at more than a mile a minutes
Like my heart in Dixieland time

We were moving at more than a mile a minute
It wasn’t near enough time to get that scared
It wasn’t near enough time to get that angry
Somehow we were both seduced by a memory

A memory that occurred at more than a mile a minute
